Since the Kyleena IUD contains only one hormone and releases it topically, it is believed that it does not (starting from the 6th week after delivery) have a detrimental effect on the growth or development of the baby, although small amounts of the hormone (about 0.1% of the dose) pass into milk. Kyleena, on the other hand, does not affect the quantity or quality of food. One study showed that both breastfeeding at the time of insertion and putting on up to 36 weeks after delivery were associated with an increased risk of perforation, although it still remained small. However, whether the Kyleen insole is suitable in your individual case is best talked to a gynecologist.
