Is it possible to give Mollers Norwegian cod liver oil my first cod liver oil to a child (18 months) and additionally give Vigantol. Cod liver oil is given 1/2 teaspoon at the beginning, i.e. about 200 vit d +500 vigantol = 700 vitamin D. Is this a good dose at this age? What if I increase the feed of cod liver oil to 1 teaspoon then it will come out to 400 vit d Should I then also give vigantol Or let it go?
Best regards

Giving Möllers Norwegian cod liver oil "My First Cod Liver Oil" to a child at the age of 18 months is safe and recommended, as this product is intended for children over 4 weeks of age. Cod liver oil contains vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids, which are crucial for the proper development of the baby, including bone growth and immune system function.
The recommended daily dose of vitamin D for children of this age is between 600 and 1000 IU. Administration of 1/2 teaspoon of fish oil (200 IU) and Vigantol (500 IU) gives a total of 700 IU, which is at the lower limit of the recommended dose. Increasing the dose of cod liver oil to 1 teaspoon (400 IU) can lead to an excess of vitamin D, so it is worth considering reducing or discontinuing Vigantol.
It is always recommended to consult a pediatrician before making changes to the supplementation of the child's diet. If you are not able to make a face-to-face visit, I attach a link to the online teleconsultation:
