Will coronavirus infection weaken the effect of Vibin contraceptive pills?
9.99 zł

Hello, I asked my gynaecologist this question but she didn't answer it. I take Vibin pills. The last intercourse was on 30.07. My roommates got covid so I'm going to get sick in the next few days as well. Of course, during and after the illness I will use additional protection, but how does it work retroactively? If I weaken my contraception with medication, can the intercourse on 30.07 lead to pregnancy?

The drugs mentioned above (Strepsils Intensive, Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Glimbax, Tantum Verde) also do not affect the effectiveness of Vibin.

I commented on the impact of antibiotics on the effectiveness of contraception in the article: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jakie-leki-oslabiaja-skutecznosc-antykoncepcji

In my opinion, you have no reason to worry about pregnancy.

Thank you for the information. And when it comes to the medications used, e.g. Strepsils Intensive, Ibuprofen, Paracetamol, Glimbax, Tantum Verde? Will they not reduce the effectiveness "backwards", since sperm cells remain in the genital tract for up to 5 days? Or if I had to start taking an antibiotic and it hasn't been 7 days since the last intercourse?

Coronavirus infection does not affect the action and effectiveness of hormonal contraception, including Vivin pills. There is no reason to worry and there is no need for additional protection during, after and before getting sick.

Theoretically, sperm can survive in the female genital tract up to 5 days after intercourse, so fertilization may take place a little later than on the day of intercourse.
