According to current scientific research, the only group of antibiotics in which a direct effect on the effectiveness of contraception has been proven are rifamycins, used, for example, in the treatment of tuberculosis.
Other antibiotics, such as Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanic acid), have not been confirmed to affect the effectiveness of hormonal contraception.
Some specialists suggest using an additional form of contraception both during antibiotic treatment and a week after the end of therapy.
If ejaculation occurred outside the genital tract, there is no possibility of pregnancy - live sperm must enter the female genital tract for fertilization to occur.
