I was prescribed Deflagyn for HPV and I have been using the Ginoring contraceptive ring for a long time (and I would not really like to stop it).
The leaflet contains information that the use of the drug ring may reduce its effectiveness, but if I do not have intercourse or I use condoms during intercourse, will it protect me from pregnancy and can there be other side effects?

The genital tract infection itself does not affect the effectiveness of the disc or implant.

The concomitant use of Deflagin gel and vaginal contraception may reduce protection against pregnancy, therefore it is listed as a contraindication to the use of the gel in the manufacturer's information. Due to the fact that Deflagyn is usually used for a longer period of time (3 months), I encourage you to consult your doctor again, who, having full information about your health, will assess the situation and, if necessary, suggest another method of contraception. Lack of intercourse or proper use of condoms will of course protect you from pregnancy, but the doctor should assess the legitimacy and safety of using the ring during Deflagyn gel therapy.
