Before using Dexa Pini in people with asthma, it is worth consulting a doctor. If the cough is very bothersome, you can use a syrup based on Butamirate, e.g. Supremin. This usually requires medical supervision so that the syrup does not impede the clearance of the airways.
Dexa Pini syrup contains dextromethorphan, which has an antitussive effect, inhibiting the cough reflex at the level of the central nervous system. However, it is not recommended for asthma because it can make it difficult to cough up secretions, which can lead to airway retention and worsening of the patient's condition.
In asthma, bronchodilators and anti-inflammatory drugs are recommended, and in the case of cough – adequate control of the underlying disease.
Alvesco (cyclesonide) is an inhaled corticosteroid used for asthma, and Dexapini syrup contains dextromethorphan, which has an antitussive effect. There are no direct interactions between these drugs, but dextromethorphan can cause drowsiness or dizziness, which is worth considering.
