Is Protopic 0.1% safe for oral use?
I was ordered Protopic 0.1% for probably Lichen in the mouth. The leaflet says do not use on mucous membranes. What should I do?

Use this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.
Protopic 0.1% (tacrolimus) has a beneficial and helpful effect in the local treatment of oral mucosal lesions in the case of diseases such as: bullous lesions, oral mucosal lichen planus, Sutton's aphthae.
For mucosal lesions, Protopic 0.1% 2–3× daily is used, depending on the severity of the lesions. Its effectiveness is similar to glucocorticoid preparations, but it can be used for a longer period of time, up to 6 weeks. It can also be used briefly (2-3 days) when changes and symptoms recur.
A small number of patients experience an increase in pain/burning sensation at the beginning of treatment during the first 1-2 days, which later subsides. The patient should be warned of the possibility of this side effect.
