If you have missed the white pill (placebo, without active substances), there is no need for an additional, non-hormonal method of contraception. However, if you have missed a pink tablet (containing the active ingredient), the procedure is different depending on which tablet from the blister you missed and how long it has been since you planned to take the tablet. If you take the pill less than 24 hours late, the effectiveness of contraception is not reduced. However, if you have taken the pill more than 24 hours late, proceed as follows:
- If you missed a pill from day 1 to 7, take it as soon as possible (even if it means taking two pills at once) and use an additional barrier method of contraception (e.g. a condom) for the next 7 days. In addition, if you have had sex in the week before you miss a pill, you are at risk of becoming pregnant and you should contact your doctor.
- If you missed a pill from day 8 to day 17, take it as soon as possible (even if it means taking two pills at the same time) and your contraceptive protection is not reduced. There is no need to use additional protections during intercourse.
- If you missed a pill from day 18 to day 24, there are two things you can do (follow one of the following recommendations to keep your contraceptive protection):
1) Take the missed tablet as soon as possible (even if it means taking two tablets at the same time) and take the next tablets at the same time. The white placebo tablets in this blister should be skipped, after taking the last pink pill you should start a new pack the next day.
2) You can stop taking the pink pills and start taking the white placebo pills. Then start a new pack.
