Good morning, my husband has been suffering from severe pain in his legs after taking two Augmentin tablets. Let me start by saying that the doctor had prescribed antibiotics for suspected bronchitis with fever
I asked two doctors if severe leg pain is among the side effects of augment, but they said no.
I wonder if anyone has had this side effect.
Thank you

I took 2 augmentin tablets ( 1 in the morning and 1 in the aevening) as my doctor prescribed and I have a great pain from my back till my legs. All started after taking the 1 tablet. I measure my temperature and I had 37.3 , so I thought that it’s from this and took a swoon max and pain left. In the evening I took the 2nd tablet and then the pain in my legs appeared again! So I read the leaflet of the medicine box and I read that this is a side effect like allergy and if you face it you must stop augmenting. I did so and now I am still in pain! I hope that in 2 days will disappear. If anyone knows how long it takes to disappear, please let me know!

Among the side effects, the manufacturer of the drug does not mention pain in the lower limbs, but allergic vasculitis appears on the list of symptoms. Leg pain that occurred after administration of the drug does not have to be muscular, but may be related to vascular action.
Such a rapid response of the body (taking only two tablets) would indicate an allergic reaction. It is worth considering whether your husband has previously experienced similar symptoms after taking preparations containing amoxicillin or clavulanic acid.
It would not have to be pain symptoms, but e.g. fever, shortness of breath, rash.
In about 85-90% of cases, an allergic reaction begins with skin lesions, but it happens that the onset of severe systemic reactions are symptoms from other organs.
If you see a link between leg pain and taking an antibiotic, you should contact your doctor who will change the antibiotic to a different one. At the same time, at each subsequent medical visit, you should inform your doctor that such an event has occurred after taking Augmentin.
If you are unable to contact your doctor, you can use the teleconsultation here:

Please remember that each organism is an individual and an adverse reaction that the manufacturer has not listed as the most common may occur after using the drug in each patient.
In order to rule out hypersensitivity to drugs, it would be advisable to carry out diagnostics in an allergy clinic.
Therefore, in addition to a visit to the doctor who will change the prescribed medication for your husband, I also encourage you to report this side effect. You can read more about how to do it and why you should do it here:
