What is the purpose of the next dose of Zentel? We have been prescribed the drug Zentel because of eosinophils. If the first tablet did not kill the individuals, why should the same repeated dose help? The leaflet says that the tablet acts on all forms of the parasite. Is Zentel safe for the liver?

If the presence of certain parasites (e.g. tapeworm, intestinal nematode) is suspected or confirmed, the dose may be repeated. The next dose can also be treated as a kind of protection - parasite eggs can survive for some time in the external environment. Therefore, for example, re-infection may occur, after the primary elimination of parasites in the body (eggs can be under nails, in bedding, underwear, etc.). Zentel is a safe drug. It should be used with caution in patients with elevated liver enzymes, e.g. during therapy with other drugs (m.in. analgesics) or with damaged liver.
