According to the Summary of Product Characteristics, only about 45 % of the dose is excreted within 48 hours. During the period of use of Solpadein, alcohol should also not be consumed. Alcohol can lead to toxic liver damage and liver failure and to an increase in the effect of codeine. You should also avoid excessive consumption of caffeine (e.g. coffee, tea and some canned drinks) while taking this product.
