What is the difference between Slinda and Limetic?

Hello, I would like to take single-component contraceptive pills. The doctor prescribed me Limetic and once I took Slinde. I know that these two drugs have different types of progesterone. How are they different? Are any of them generally considered better? Has fewer side effects? I also take these pills for endometriosis and have mild hypertension (I take concor)

Both Slinda and Limetic are single-component contraceptive pills. Both are synthetic hormones and have an analogous mechanism of action regarding the prevention of pregnancy. Limetic contains desogestrel, and Slinda - drospirenone. None of these products are officially registered for the treatment of endometriosis. However, these products cause thinning of the endometrium and a decrease or even disappearance of bleeding, which contributes to the relief of endometriosis symptoms. However, these preparations differ in that Limetic is taken continuously, and Slinda also has placebo tablets - during their use, withdrawal bleeding may occur. Perhaps the gynecologist decided that in the case of a patient with endometriosis, a preparation for continuous use would be more beneficial. The profile of drospirenone as a progestogen of the 4th generation is characterized by antiandrogenic and antimineracorticoid properties. You can expect drospirenone to prevent water retention in the body. In this respect, it could work better in a patient with low hypertension. Desogestrel is a progestogen of the third generation. It exhibits some agonism towards androgen receptors (weak) and has no activity against mineralocorticosteroid receptors. Drugs - including contraceptive preparations - as a rule, are not divided into "better" and "worse". The choice of the product depends on the identified health needs of the patient. Any medicine can, but does not have to, cause side effects. Both Slinda and Limetic may have side effects, but it is impossible to predict in advance whether and in whom such ailments will occur. Some of the side effects will be common or similar, some may be more pronounced with one of these drugs (e.g. Slinda due to the effect on water management should be less likely to cause swelling and soreness of the breast). All known side effects are described in the leaflet and can be read before starting therapy. However, it may be that a drug with a longer list of side effects will not cause any of them, and a drug with a shorter one - will cause one or more such effects in a particular patient due to the individual tolerance of the drug.
