Hello, for the first time in my life I use the PolaRing contraceptive disc. For 3 weeks of contraceptive use brown bleeding persisted, now I am 2 days after removing the disc. Bleeding now resembles menstruation. Is it possible that menstruation appeared too quickly? Should I put in a new disc in such a situation? Thank you in advance for your reply.

In the first 2-3 months of using the disc, spotting and mid-cycle bleeding may occur - this is the adaptation period when the body gets used to the supply of hormones. After removing the disc, withdrawal bleeding usually occurs on the 2-4th day of the break - this is completely normal. The new disc should be applied after a 7-day break, regardless of the ongoing bleeding. Putting on the first disc on the first day of natural menstruation applies only to the start of therapy - that is, the first disc. The next discs should be removed after 3 weeks, then take a 7-day break and apply another disc - regardless of the observed bleeding, which in this case is no longer physiological menstruation, but artificially induced bleeding.
