Good morning. I would like to know if the antibiotic Augmentin can significantly affect the effect of Vines contraceptive pills (today at 6 p.m. I took the 21st pill). I am going to take the antibiotic at 22, the next dose tomorrow at 10 (antibiotic 2x a day for 7 days). In addition, the doctor prescribed me Immuno Plus. Is it better to use anything else besides this probiotic? Should additional safeguards be applied?

Both when taking the antibiotic Augmentin and 7 days after its completion, it is recommended to use additional methods of contraception (e.g. a condom). Antibiotics, including Augmentin, can disrupt the composition of the bacterial flora in the gut, which is necessary to convert the hormones contained in all types of pills into active forms. This limits their absorption from the pills into the blood, thereby reducing contraceptive effectiveness.
