After how many hours after taking Pyrantelum do pinworms stop moving?
I took 4 tablets of Pyrantelum at a weight of 80kg, after what time will the pinworms stop moving? I took the drug around 12:00 and at 20:00 further excretes pinworms that move. Did the drug work or did something go wrong?

Pyrantelum may not be effective immediately after taking the first dose - you will definitely not notice the effect after a few hours of taking it.
The drug has an effect on the muscles of roundworms by depolarizing their neuromuscular plaque - it immobilizes parasites, which are then gradually excreted with the faeces. The need to repeat the treatment is due to the fact that the drug affects only mature forms and parasites at an early stage of development. It does not affect the larvae. Infected parasites die, but the time in which this occurs has not been determined.
According to the Pyrantelum dossier: "The dose should be repeated two or three weeks after the first dose. Do not exceed the recommended dose. After 14 days from the end of treatment, parasitological follow-up examinations should be performed. If symptoms persist after the second dose of the drug, contact your doctor."
After the second dose, you should be free of parasites, but - as the leaflet says - in case of signs that the treatment may not have been effective, you should consult a doctor. Dead parasites are usually excreted in the faeces up to about a week after treatment.
