Metformax 850 można otrzymać w aptece bezpłatnie, jeśli lekarz wystawiający receptę wpisze na niej uprawnienie S oraz zaznaczy, że lek powinien być wydany z odpłatnością ryczałtową. W przeciwnym wypadku, farmaceuta nie może wydać wspomnianego leku bezpłatnie, ani nie może sam nanieść uprawnienia S.
