Good morning. I wanted to ask if spotting is possible after 1.5 years of using the Levosert intrauterine device. They are not intense, they are not accompanied by abdominal pain, they just happen. I will also add that this is my second liner (when using the first one, I had spotting a few months before changing to a new one). Recently, I have been under a lot of stress, I sleep very badly.

Spotting is one of the very common side effects that occur when using the Levosert pad. It occurs in every 10th woman using an IUD. This does not mean that the preparation does not work or that its effect is weakened.
Spotting can be caused by stress and insomnia, which you are now facing. It may be worth using a herbal preparation, e.g. based on lemon balm, hops, valerian, which have a calming and mild sleep-inducing effect. However, you should not use a product with St. John's wort – St. John's wort extract may weaken the effectiveness of the pad.
If spotting recurs or intensifies (bleeding, abdominal pain), you can consult a gynecologist. The specialist will perform an ultrasound and check whether the IUD is correctly placed and whether there are any changes in the uterus, e.g. polyps, which can also be the cause of spotting.
