Bleeding that occurs a few days after starting the contraceptive pill may be the so-called mid-cycle bleeding, i.e. the body's reaction to adapt to the hormones contained in the pills. This is quite common, especially in the first months of using hormonal contraception, and is usually not a cause for concern if the bleeding is light and not accompanied by other worrying symptoms.
It is important to take the pills regularly at the same time, as irregularities in dosage can increase bleeding and reduce the effectiveness of contraception. If the bleeding is heavy, lasts more than a few days, pain or other symptoms appear, it is worth consulting a gynaecologist who will assess the situation and possibly change the preparation or recommend further treatment.
In addition, bleeding after intercourse may be due to cervical irritation or other causes, but in itself does not indicate that the pills are ineffective. If you have doubts about the effectiveness of contraception or suspect pregnancy, it is worth taking a pregnancy test and seeing a doctor.
