There is no absolute contraindication to the concomitant use of Fluoxetine and TianeRax (tianeptine), however, caution should be exercised.
Both drugs affect the serotonin system, which can increase the risk of side effects such as serotonin syndrome. Serotonin syndrome manifests itself, m.in, confusion, agitation, fever, sweating, ataxia, hyperreflexia, muscle clonic seizures, and diarrhea. This condition is distinguished by the so-called triad of symptoms, which includes:
* Vegetative disorders, i.e. increased blood pressure, fever, diarrhoea, vomiting and pupil dilation.
* Psychiatric symptoms, consisting of anxiety disorders, feelings of anxiety and confusion.
* Neuromuscular ailments, i.e. recurrent cramps, pain and increased muscle tone.
Tianeptine also requires caution in people with electrolyte and liver disorders, so before introducing such a combination, it is necessary to consult a doctor who will assess the individual risks and benefits of therapy.
