Afloderm ointment (alclomethasone dipropionate) is a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties, used primarily in the treatment of inflammatory skin diseases such as atopic or contact dermatitis. It is not a preparation dedicated to the treatment of insect bites, such as black flies.
In the case of insect bites, it is better to reach for ointments or gels specially designed to relieve itching, pain and swelling, which often contain antihistamines or soothing ingredients. The use of Afloderm for bites may only be possible after consulting a doctor, especially since this drug should not be used on damaged skin or for more than 3 weeks, and also requires caution due to possible side effects and contraindications. In the event of severe allergic reactions after an insect bite, you should consult a doctor immediately.
