Long-term use of Texibax (esomeprazole), like any other drug, requires consultation and regular medical check-up, especially if it lasts more than a year.
Your doctor will assess the benefits and risks of continuing therapy, adjust your dose based on your medical condition, how you respond to the medicine, and how it may interact with other medicines you are taking.
Long-term use of Texibax can lead to several potential side effects. The most important of these is the increased risk of osteoporosis ( in older patients the risk of fractures of the hipbone, wrist or spine) especially when used for more than a year and at high doses. Magnesium levels in the blood may also decrease, which requires monitoring, as magnesium deficiency can cause a variety of clinical symptoms. Other possible side effects include headaches, gastrointestinal problems, swelling, sleep disturbances, rare allergic reactions, severe skin rashes, liver and kidney problems, as well as very rare cases of hallucinations or aggression.
If you experience any changes in your symptoms or any worrying side effects, you should contact your doctor immediately.
