Elocom is effective and safe in the treatment of atrophic scars, when used as directed by a specialist. Elocom (mometasone furoate) is a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictor properties that soothes skin inflammation.
In the treatment of atrophic scars, it can help by reducing inflammation around the scar, which can improve its appearance and comfort. However, due to its corticosteroid effects, the drug should be used as directed by your doctor, as long-term or incorrect use can lead to side effects such as skin weakness or adrenal suppression.
Elocom should not be used on large areas of skin, on the face, in skin folds, or on children under 2 years of age without close medical supervision. If symptoms of irritation or allergy appear, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
