Good morning. I am supposed to take Escitalopram aciavis. I know that I have to stop taking L-Tryptophan, but how long after withdrawal can I start taking Escitalopram?

After discontinuing L-Tryptophan, which is an amino acid supplement, there is usually no need to wait long before starting Escitalopram, however, it is advisable to keep at least a few days break to avoid interactions and excessive increases in serotonin levels. Escitalopram is an SSRI drug and can cause serotonin syndrome when used concomitantly with other serotonin-enhancers such as L-Tryptophan.
