Currently, there is no approved and available vaccine against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) in Poland or worldwide. Trials for HSV vaccines are currently underway, but none of them are yet approved for use.
In prevention, it is recommended to avoid contact with active herpes lesions and to strengthen the body's immunity. Treatment of cold sores is based on pharmacotherapy with antiviral drugs such as acyclovir, which help reduce the severity and frequency of symptoms, but do not cure the infection. If you often suffer from cold sore flare-ups, it is worth consulting your doctor about antiviral treatment, such as acyclovir or valacyclovir.
