Gabapentin is not usually recommended as the first choice medication for the treatment of panic attacks. Although it is sometimes used off-label for anxiety disorders, its effectiveness in this area has not been clearly confirmed. It can be used in some cases of seasonal depression, but with little effectiveness and frequent side effects.
The standard treatment for panic attacks is SSRIs or benzodiazepines, which are more effective at controlling anxiety symptoms. It is worth consulting a psychiatrist in order to choose the appropriate treatment.
