Can daily intake of paracetamol (up to 3000 mg) weaken the effect of Slinda single-component contraception?
12.99 zł

A week ago I started taking Slinda single-ingredient pills. I have a headache every day, so I take solpadeine every day (I do not exceed the dose of 3000 mg of paracetamol), but before starting contraception there were also days when I took paracetamol. I read somewhere that long-term use of paracetamol can weaken the effect of single-component contraceptive pills. Please reply

No, paracetamol at standard doses (up to 3000-4000 mg per day) does not affect the effectiveness of single-component contraception such as Slinda (drospirenone). Slinda tablets are single-component, containing only progestin, which reduces the risk of interactions compared to combined pills.

However, you should be careful and consult your doctor if the headache is frequent and requires regular intake of acetaminophen. If the headaches persist from the moment you start treatment with Slinda, it is worth seeing a doctor – this may be a side effect of this drug.
