Can I have bloodshot ears, pressure on the ears and nausea after lorazepam?

Good afternoon. Please tell me, can a symptom such as ear congestion, pressure on the ears, and nausea be a side effect of lorazepam? I took it for four months only for anxiety, 1 mg each. During these four months, I drank only 50 pills. Can it already be addictive and is it a withdrawal syndrome?

To date, ear congestion and pressure on the ears have not been reported with lorazepam. It may happen that the symptoms you experience are the result of other possible side effects of the medication, such as hypersensitivity reactions, allergic skin reactions, changes in blood pressure. Nausea was not reported very often.

The use of benzodiazepines (m.in. lorazepam) can lead to physical and psychological dependence. In order to reduce the risk of addiction, the lowest effective dose of the drug should be used for the shortest possible period. Treatment should usually not last longer than 4 weeks. However, it is the doctor who determines the appropriate time and dose of the drug depending on the patient's condition. In your case, the number of pills taken indicates a lack of continuity of treatment, which may reduce the risk of addiction. Lorazepam should be used as directed by your doctor. The most common symptoms of drug addiction include, m.in, increasing the dose and the impression of too weak healing effect after some time of use.

When you stop taking the drug abruptly, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, muscle aches, anxiety, tension, restlessness, depression, insomnia, sweating, dizziness, confusion, and irritability. The ailments alleviated by lorazepam may also intensify.

If the ailments do not subside or intensify, I encourage you to consult a doctor. You can also take advantage of teleconsultation, e.g. via the Gdziepolek.pl portal:
