Wellbutrin (bupropion) works by increasing levels of norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain. The appearance of antidepressant activity in the fourth week may be due to the drug reaching optimal concentrations in the body.
The disappearance of the effects in the following week can be caused by various factors, such as changes in the metabolism of the drug, interactions with other substances or individual body reactions. There may also be a so-called "half-response" effect or receptor adaptation, which temporarily weakens the effect of the drug.
In this situation, it is worth consulting your attending physician, who can adjust the dose or assess the need for additional therapy.
