Norovirus infection can be troublesome, but it is usually not dangerous to health unless it leads to dehydration, especially in children and the elderly. Symptoms such as diarrhea, nausea, chills and abdominal pain are typical of this virus.

Treatment consists of relieving symptoms and preventing dehydration, using rehydration fluids and electrolytes, and in the case of children, oral rehydration solutions (ORS). Smecta can help relieve diarrhea, but it is not the first-choice drug; It can relieve the symptoms, but it does not cure the cause. Additionally, probiotics with documented efficacy can be used to support gut health.

A pharmacist within his or her competence may offer over-the-counter remedies, e.g.:

It is also important to avoid fatty foods and dairy products. If you experience severe symptoms or suspect dehydration, consult your doctor.
