Is it safe to use Nasometin 50 mg 2x1 in an eight-year-old? The doctor prescribed it, I understand that it is a dose twice a day after 1 spray? This dose is used from the age of 12, can I use 2x1 ?

Although, according to the manufacturer's recommendations, Nasometin in children from 6 years of age is administered 1 dose (50 μg) to each nostril once a day, with the consent of the guardian/parent, the doctor may increase the dose to 2×1 (twice a day, one spray) for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, due to its beneficial therapeutic effect.
The doctor has the right to use the drug on the basis of his or her best knowledge and experience, and not on the basis of the manufacturer's indications. It is also a common practice. If your doctor has decided to use Nasometin 2x 1 in a younger child, this involves close growth monitoring and dose adjustments.
Nasometin (mometasone) contains a corticosteroid that can slow the growth rate in children.
