Does Implanon interact with Fluconazole and Interferon alpha-2b?
12.99 zł

Hi. I have an Implanon Nxt contraceptive implant.
I read the leaflet, but I don't understand if taking Fluconazole (fluconazole) affects the effectiveness of contraception? What are the possible negative side effects of taking Fluconazole (fluconazole), and the implant?

Can I also use nasal drops Interferon? Does interferon weaken the contraceptive effect of the implant?

Information on the interaction of Fluconazole with the active ingredient Implanon NXT:

"Concomitant administration of strong (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin) or moderate (e.g., fluconazole, diltiazem, erythromycin) inhibitors of CYP3A4 may increase progesterone concentrations, including etonogestrel."

Therefore, fluconazole may increase the side effects of the contraceptive implant and alter the metabolism of the released active substance. In such a situation, it is difficult to assess the contraceptive effectiveness of the drug, so the combination of the above preparations is not recommended.

I have not found information on potential interactions with interferon alpha-2b (not all interactions with this drug have been fully evaluated). Consultation with a doctor experienced in the use of this drug is recommended.

Let me add something to the question. Can interferon alpha-2b be used in the form of rectal suppositories, ointments, drops? Will they reduce the effectiveness of the contraceptive Implanon NXT?
