Sorbifer can be taken both during a break and during a cycle of taking birth control pills. It is worth keeping an interval between medications (e.g. 2 hours). Meals containing dairy products, eggs, coffee and tea, large amounts of fibre (e.g. whole grains) may impair the absorption of iron, so Sorbifer should be taken before eating (if there are no stomach problems) or while eating, avoiding the foods listed above.
