Both drugs belong to the same group of medicinal products (so-called beta-blockers). Both drugs are indicated in the treatment of angina and hypertension (metoprolol can also be used in the treatment of tachycardia). Contraindications to use and interactions with other drugs are also similar. Betaxolol has a longer effect than Metoprolol, therefore it may be administered less frequently.
