Should I continue taking Amoksiklav and Enterol despite diarrhoea and abdominal pain?
16.00 zł

Good evening!
Today I started taking the antibiotic amoxiklav 2x1. And Enterol 200mg 2x1 Unfortunately, in the morning at noon and now in the evening diarrhea appeared. I was given an antibiotic because I had a suspicion of flu and a fever that lasted 4 days, today they did a test and I don't have the flu, so the doctor prescribed this medicine. I will add that my stomach and intestines hurt, he felt such a stinging. I will not be in touch with the doctor who wrote it until Monday.

Pseudomembranous enteritis after just two doses of the antibiotic is unlikely, especially in the absence of fever. However, persistent, severe diarrhea requires further evaluation by a doctor. Observe the symptoms, hydrate and report for tomorrow's visit.

Yesterday I consulted a doctor, he told me to put off the antibiotic and wait out the diarrhea. He said that after two doses of antibiotics, pseudomembranous enteritis was supposedly unlikely, but I began to worry very intensely. Especially since diarrhea does not stop. I don't know how many stools I've already passed but quite a lot. My intestines don't hurt, I don't know if I have blood in my stool because I'm in the middle of my period. Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment. Is pseudomembranous enteritis really unlikely? I will add that I do not have a fever.

Yes, you can take Taninal (tannin with protein). This drug has an astringent effect and may relieve the symptoms of diarrhea.

In the case of antibiotic-associated diarrhea, it is crucial to supplement the bacterial flora with probiotics containing Saccharomyces boulardii (e.g. Enterol) or Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG (e.g. Lacidofil). It is also worth consulting a doctor to rule out pseudomembranous enteritis caused by Clostridium difficile, which requires specific treatment.

Thank you for your reply! Can I fry taninal for this diarrhea?

Diarrhea and abdominal pain can be a side effect of the antibiotic Amoksiklav. Enterol is a probiotic that helps stabilize the intestinal flora and it is worth continuing.

Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. If the diarrhoea is very severe or other disturbing symptoms appear (e.g. blood in the stool, high fever), please go to the Night and Holiday Care of the Sick, or make an appointment for a teleconsultation with an internist. If your symptoms are mild, continue your treatment until Monday and consult your doctor.
