Should Leflunomide be discontinued before cholecystectomy, and if so, when?

Yes, Leflunomide should usually be discontinued prior to elective surgery, including cholecystectomy, to reduce the risk of infections and impaired wound healing due to its immunosuppressive effects. It is usually recommended to stop the medication 2-4 weeks before surgery, but the decision on the exact timing and need for the drug elimination procedure (cholestyramine) should be discussed with your treating doctor.
