Lipanthyl may contribute to the increase in the excretion of cholesterol into the bile and the formation of gallstones, therefore gallbladder diseases are a contraindication to the use of the drug.
The Lipanthyl dossier does not mention the absence of a gallbladder as a contraindication to the use of fenofibrate (the active ingredient in Lipanthyl). Therefore, the decision to use Lipanthyl in a person who has had their gallbladder removed is made by a doctor.
Gastrointestinal adverse reactions may occur after removal of the follicle and during concomitant use of Lipanthyl.
