The active substance in Piramil is ramipril, a medicine that belongs to the group of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. The action of ramipril leads to a decrease in angiotensin II levels, and thus to a decrease in blood pressure. In addition, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors have a protective effect on vessels and have anti-atherosclerotic properties. They are used in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases, as well as in the treatment of kidney diseases (diabetic and non-diabetic nephropathy).
