The "morning after pill" is designed to stop/inhibit ovulation. Ovulation usually occurs in the middle of the cycle, on average 14-16 days before menstruation (with a standard cycle of 28 days). Just before the expected period, there are infertile days. If you have difficulty determining your fertile and infertile days, you can take emergency contraception on any day of your cycle. The condition for the drug to work is to take it within 36 hours of unprotected intercourse.
