Hello – for some time now I have been taking the daily contraception. However, I am bothered by one issue – the effect of contraception after a week of placebo. On Saturday, May 18, I started the first placebo pill, and on the evening of Monday, May 20, I got withdrawal bleeding. Last Saturday (May 25th) I started a new blister with active tablets. How long does it take for me to be fully protected in the current situation? She takes all the pills at the same time every day.

You are protected both when taking placebo pills and when taking active tablets, including those at the beginning of the blister.
Combined contraceptive pills, such as Atywia Daily, work by inhibiting ovulation, which usually occurs on the 14th-16th day of the cycle. With the correct use of the pills, ovulation does not occur, hence the possibility of pregnancy. In addition, the hormones in the pill change the consistency of the mucus, preventing sperm from entering the fallopian tube and fertilization does not occur.
