Is breastfeeding during Dostinex treatment dangerous for the baby?

Hello. On Wednesday 27.11 I started taking dostinex I took one pill and a half on Thursday morning. Today I put my one-month-old son to my chest because he and I really needed it. Could this cause any side effects on him?

According to the summary of product characteristics, you should not breastfeed while taking Dostinex. In animals, the active substance is excreted in milk, whereas in humans this is not available. Similarly, there is no information on what effect this medicine may have on the child.

I would like to point out that the half-life of cabergoline - the active ingredient of the drug - is long and lasts up to 68 hours. This means that after almost three days, the concentration of the drug in the body is only halved.

I suggest contacting a pediatrician who will assess your child's health.

I am attaching information about Dostinex, which can be booked at a pharmacy of your choice using our portal:
