Intercourse is not a reliable method of contraception, because sperm can also be in the preejaculate. It is a discharge that escapes from a man's urethra during intercourse, often long before proper ejaculation. The Escapelle tablet can be used up to 72 hours after unprotected intercourse, and the EllaOne tablet - up to 120 hours. The effectiveness is greatest if the preparation was taken as soon as possible.
