I started taking sodium butyrate to get rid of the constant abdominal bloating. But these bloating intensified even more. Even in the morning I have a bloated stomach, which was not there before. What to do? Plus, I'm still hungry. I've been on metformin for 10 years.

To @Matylda:
Sodium butyrate exhibits a broad spectrum of activity, supporting the growth of beneficial bacteria and inhibiting the growth of pathogens. This causes a rearrangement of the intestinal microbiota – it inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria and at the same time stimulates the growth of health-promoting bacteria. This is a natural process that in some patients may manifest itself in diarrhea, flatulence or increased fermentation.
The most commonly recommended dose is about 600-800 mg per day, which may be too high for the intestines, which have been struggling with diarrhea, flatulence and fermentation for a long time. Then unpleasant reactions may occur.
In this situation, you should start with lower doses, such as 200 mg once a day, and slowly increase the amount, giving the microbiota time to adapt.

According to scientific research, the use of 300 mg of butyric acid per day helped to significantly reduce the frequency of spontaneous abdominal pain after 4 weeks, and after 12 weeks – to reduce the frequency of spontaneous abdominal pain, abdominal pain during defecation and urge to stool after defecation. Therefore, you can expect the first effects of therapy after 4 weeks. I found such a nice comparison of butyrates on the website of Radioklinika. It turns out that only Intesta has a tested butyrate, maybe the one from Debutir doesn't work, because you don't know what's inside?
Intesta Max has the most butyrate.
2 or 3 approaches to sodium butyrate (Debutir). Bloating, severe abdominal pain, difficulty defecating (as if the intestines were not working). Definitely better after withdrawal.
I started a week ago with butyrrisan tablets, the first 2 days I started with the maximum dose (3 per day) and I made a mistake because although there was immediately a decrease in air, I was super inflamed, so I went down to one tablet a day during lunch and I must say that I am much better. I would say it's working, I'm eating even more without feeling sick. In 3 weeks I will draw conclusions.
Hello I started today the treatment with zymecol with butyrate acid since this morning that I have swelling and air all over my stomach, I can't even eat
I've been taking sodium butyrate for four days now for inflammation of the intestine, reflux, diverticula of the intestine. I started having stomach pains, diarrhea, 6 times a day, burning in the esophagus, today I stop taking this drug...
It's the same with me. I started using Sodium Butyrate (Rebutin Intense) a few weeks ago, one capsule each in the morning and one in the evening. Practically from the very beginning, terrible flatulence combined with random intestinal pains appeared in various places. My belly is like a balloon, hard, swollen. Yesterday I stopped taking the drug, today it is much better.
I am also using sodium butyrate and the swelling has increased. Annoying. I take the sachets away from meals and yet this happens.
I've also noticed the reflux sensation coming back since I've been using this product. I'm on the third / fourth day
There's also a weird effect, which is that I feel like coughing.
Notice if this happens or if it has happened to you.
After 5 days of supplementation with sodium butyrate, severe flatulence and, as a result, unbearable abdominal pain, no analgesics or antispasmodics worked and I ended up in the ER. Nevermore!!!! I don't know why there is no side effects in the leaflet, on the sites.
I also noticed increased flatulence and belching after taking sodium butyrate (Tributron preparation, later I tried Ibesan butyrate forte). I have sibo and I wanted to see if it would help me with diarrhea. This is clearly due to supplementation, after discontinuation the problem decreases, after taking bloating appears and it is quite strong. I do not know why it is not written anywhere, only that there are no side effects...
