Hi everyone,
For over two years I have been struggling with a chronic headache, which is located mainly behind the eyes. The pain occurs literally every day, 24/7, and sometimes it becomes more intense, sometimes under the influence of light. The pain is hard to describe, usually pulsating, burning, when it intensifies, it also comes as if I was going through such an electric current, but burning???
I have done a lot of tests: magnetic resonance imaging with contrast (twice), tomography, blood tests, EEG also during sleep – all the results are normal. I have had consultations with many neurologists, laryngologists, ophthalmologists, allergists. I've had allergic rhinitis for years and I'm currently desensitizing (for the second time) but I'm not sure if it could be related to this pain.
The only drug that helps me reasonably is pregabalin, I currently take 450 mg a day. I've been taking it for about a year. It works moderately, the pain does not disappear completely, but is more bearable as if behind the curtain/in the background. Previously, m.in I had flunarazine, triptans (various – both over-the-counter and prescription), muscle relaxants, opioids (tramadol, codeine) and everything possible without a prescription. I also had massaging my jaw from the inside and outside also without success. A few months ago, after a nose operation, which by the way was a torment for me, I was given 5mg of oxycodone intravenously for this pain, which eliminated the nose pain for about 45 minutes (then 8 hours of torment) but the pain behind the eyes did not eliminate it, they moved it more to the background (it was still there, but I did not feel it that much).
I wonder if any of you have had similar symptoms and if you have found a more effective treatment. Are there any other medications that are worth considering in such a case? The pain makes it difficult for me to sleep and work. daily duties, I'm powerless anymore. I'm asking for any advice, just to make this hell pass. On July 16 I have to see a neurologist at the National Health Fund, but you know how it is with them.
