Both drugs, Zulbex and Dexilant, are only issued on the basis of a valid medical prescription, which means that the decision to use preparations should be made after consultation with a doctor. The doctor on the basis of the patient's medical history proposes an appropriate drug. If it is not possible to visit a stationary visit, it is also possible to use the teleadvice offered, m.in. by the Gdziepolek.pl portal: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja The form of the film-coated tablet makes rabeprazole (the active substance in Zulbex) a monophasic proton pump inhibitor. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood is reached after about 3.5 hours after the administration of the drug. In contrast, the modified-release capsule form makes dexlansoprazole (the active substance in Dexilant) a biphasic proton pump inhibitor. The biphasic release of the active substance (first in the anterior part of the duodenum, and then in the lumen of the small intestine) ensures the maintenance of the therapeutic concentration of the drug in the blood for a long time. Thus, it extends the time of inhibition of hydrochloric acid secretion. In addition, greater durability and stability of inhibition of proton pump activity makes the use of the drug independent of maintaining a distance from a meal. A longer duration of action of a single dose of the drug may reduce the frequency of side effects after the use of the preparation. However, it is indicated that the overall safety profile of the drug is similar to other substances in the group of proton pump inhibitors. Dexlansoprazole is more effective in achieving long-term improvement. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood is obtained within 4-6 hours after administration of the preparation, with the first increase in the concentration of the drug observed after 1-2 hours. Any medicine used can cause side effects. This does not mean that every patient will experience them. We wrote about whether to be afraid of side effects in the article: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/czy-bac-sie-dzialan-niepozadanych-lekow Tolerance of individual preparations is determined individually. In summary, dexlansoprazole is a new generation preparation with a longer inhibitory effect on the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. However, the final decision on the prescription of a specific preparation is made by the attending physician in accordance with the patient's m.in medical history.
