Can taking clonazepam affect betaHCG? I know that it has a tetratogenic effect on the fetus. I would like to do a blood pregnancy test 12 days after intercourse. Will this result be reliable? Can clonazepam affect the fetus by secreting less of this hormone?

A drug such as clonazepam should not affect the result of the pregnancy test because its action is focused on the nervous tissue, without affecting the release of the pregnancy hormone. Teratogenic means that the drug harms the fetus, but does not mean that it falsifies the result of the pregnancy test. The use of clonazepam in pregnant women, especially in the first and third trimesters, is only allowed in a situation of extreme necessity, if a safer drug cannot be used. The use of benzodiazepines (such as clonazepam) during pregnancy is associated with a number of risks for the baby and the benefit/risk balance should therefore be carefully considered. A blood pregnancy test performed 12 days of intercourse could detect pregnancy if it happened. However, if the test was negative, but menstrual bleeding did not occur, this test should be repeated in my opinion.
