Why not combine Venlectine with alcohol?

Good morning, I'm taking venlectine from the SNRI group. I know that it should not be combined with alcohol, because alcohol has a "depressant" effect on the central nervous system and eliminates the therapeutic effect of the drug. But is there any chemical reaction that makes combining alcohol with SNRIs really dangerous? Is it only about reducing the effectiveness of the therapy I described above?
