On the Avamina SR package leaflet it says: Do not use this medicine: - if you have decompensated diabetes, e.g. severe severe hyperglycaemia (high blood glucose). Why such information, whether the drug can cause an increase in the value of sugar levels? I have sugar about 300j after taking Avamina SR sugar level rises up, newet to 420j ? Regards Jerzy, 50l

Avamina SR does not cause an increase in blood glucose levels, but it can in very rare cases cause a dangerous complication such as lactic acidosis if it accumulates. The accumulation of the drug occurs as a result of, for example, kidney failure, which may be the result of hyperglycemia (elevated blood sugar levels), therefore the contraindication to the use of the drug is decompensated diabetes with severe hyperglycemia. Severe hyperglycemia is a medical condition that requires specialized hospital treatment. There is no reason to believe that you are showing symptoms of severe hyperglycaemia. Referring to the results of blood glucose measurements, I would like to point out that Avamina SR is absorbed into the body relatively slowly — only after 5-7 hours the maximum effect of the drug is achieved. You did not provide information about how long after taking the medicine you are measuring, and I have no information whether you take meals between the measurement and taking the medicine.
