Yes, sertraline is used to treat depression. Sertraline is a substance indicated for use in the treatment of episodes of major depression, prevention of recurrence of major depressive episodes, panic disorder accompanied (or not) by agoraphobia. obsessive compulsive disorder (ZO-K) in adults and pediatric patients aged 6-17 years, social anxiety disorder, post-traumatic anxiety disorder. Contraindications to the use of sertraline: Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients of the product. Concomitant use of irreversible monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) is contraindicated due to the risk of serotonin syndrome, which proceeds with symptoms such as psychomotor agitation, muscle tremor and hyperthermia. Sertraline should not be initiated within at least 14 days of discontinuation of treatment with an irreversible MAO inhibitor. Sertraline should be discontinued at least 7 days before starting treatment with an irreversible MAO inhibitor. Concomitant use of pimozide is contraindicated.
