Is every SSRI drug inadvisable for Dexilant or only Fluvoxamine?
Good morning. The description of the active substance of Dexilant, which is Dexlansoprazole, states that Fluvoxamine (a CYP2C19 inhibitor) enhances the effects of dexlansoprazole. Fluvoxamine (Fluvoxamine) SSRIs - selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. Does this mean that every SSRI drug is not recommended or only fluvoxamine?

Such information in the leaflet of the drug Dexilant is not synonymous with the fact that each drug from the SSRI group will be contraindicated in Dexilant therapy. This means that any drug that is an inhibitor of cyp2C19 will be contraindications. Cyp2C19 cytochorm is an important detoxifying enzyme responsible for removing about 10% of commonly used drugs, including antidepressants, proton pump inhibitors, etc. The high activity of these enzymes has been linked to depression. Since Dexilant and Fluvoxamine are prescription-only drugs, their combined use in therapy should be decided by a doctor. During the use of such a combination, the patient should be monitored for the severity of adverse reactions to PPIs.
