Why should Deflegmin Baby drops be diluted?

Deflegmin Baby drops are recommended to be given after dilution with water, tea, milk or juice due to the fact that the excipient contained in them - benzalkonium chloride, may cause local irritation. Administration of milk shortly after the application of the drug reduces the direct contact of the drug with the mucous membrane of the throat and esophagus, which reduces the risk of irritation.
